Day 2! I chose to highlight one of my favorite places I’ve been in my home state of Minnesota: The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA). It’s an incredible place, home to beautiful wilderness and nature. Famous for canoeing, this pristine area is also home to numerous trails perfect for exploring on foot! This map highlights the extensive network of trails for hiking and portaging that weave through the BWCA.

For this map, I was working on creating a basemap from a hillshade and imagery, but after stumbling upon a video of John Nelson explaining the same, I decided to try it out and was really happy with the result!
